The Fantasy California Bear Trophy is a fan-made game for listeners of the Upgrade podcast. This page explains what information I collect when you participate, how it is used, and what is shown publicly.
What I collect
When you log in with Discord I receive the following information from Discord and store it in our database:
- Discord user ID — a unique numeric identifier assigned by Discord. Not displayed publicly.
- Username — your Discord username (e.g.
yourname). - Display name — your Discord display name, if you have set one.
When you submit a location pick I store:
- The Wikipedia page ID and name of the location you picked, along with the fact that it was you who picked it.
- The latitude and longitude of that location, as returned by the Wikipedia API.
- The date and time you first submitted your pick, and the date and time of your most recent update.
What is shown publicly
Your display name (or username if no display name is set) and your chosen location are shown on the map on the Fantasy California Bear Trophy page. No other information is displayed publicly.
What I do not collect
- I do not collect your email address, password, or any Discord message content.
- I do not use any third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
- I do not sell or share your data with any third party.
Cookies and sessions
When you log in, I store a session cookie in your browser to keep you signed in. This cookie contains only a session identifier; your Discord information is stored server-side. The cookie expires after one week, or when you clear your browser cookies.
Data deletion
You can update or remove your pick at any time while submissions are open. To have your account and all associated data permanently deleted, email me at privacy@californiabeartrophy.com and I will remove it as promptly as possible.
Changes to this policy
If I make any meaningful changes to what data I collect or how it is used, I will update this page and the date above.
